Well, firstly, what are my distractions? On the flip side of that – what helps me focus?
I think my biggest distraction is, you could probably guess, Facebook. It’s on my phone, I check it waaaay too often and I hardly miss a post. I do find some brilliant things on Facebook and being in the right place in the right time has led to picking up some pretty cool things like my antique singer sewing machine for FREE! I’m part of some really useful groups and it’s also how I came across this blog challenge. However, most of my feed is drivel (no offence) and I’m certain the time I spend inanely going over posts could be better used elsewhere. So, it’s bye bye Facebook on my phone.
I find I can get really distracted if I don’t have a plan or clear priorities, this is being tackled by yesterday’s challenge and I’m spending time getting all my roles and goals out of my head onto my week plan, it’s even got room for a bucket list and reading list to keep track of those other to do’s. Getting it all down on paper is also giving me some mental space to think.
Speaking of space, I have noticed how space affects my ability to focus. If I have a clear space to work in and the space in my laptop is clear and organised I find it so much easier to find things and get things done, I don’t get distracted by things I come across or the need to tidy. So on my to do list this week is to clear out and organise my laptop files.
